How Educational Method Affects Politics

In light of my previous post, I'd like to share an article that relates well to my point of view. The truth is I am part of a way of thinking that is headed towards extinction, partly because of an opposing force that wishes to change the direction of the United States, but mostly because the citizenry is generally indifferent. There are some who sense something is wrong, and they want to do something about it. However, there seem to be very few who can clearly articulate the values of American liberty and individualism, much less a solution to the current socio-political crisis. Oh, we can all say that we believe in these things, but when it comes to defending it we remain at a loss for words. This is why the Republican party is a mockery. They don't speak clearly, and they are weak. The people who do speak with intelligence and authority, the very ones who can make the case well, for whatever reasons, are unable or unwilling to become the statesmen that we need.

I would love for others to agree with my ideas; it's only natural. But more important is the need for clarity. We should know clearly what others believe. It is in this spirit that I present this printed speech from the president of Hillsdale College: Education, Economics, and Self-Government
